School Stuff

Yesterday I visited Patrick's school for the Author's Tea. That was nice and I also got the chance to see some of his other artwork and writing hanging around the room. I stayed and ate lunch with Patrick - where he basically completely ignored me :) I also got to go to music class with them - that was a treat:) Here are some examples of what Patrick has been working on in second grade.
Patrick made this in Art using oil pastels.
I liked the part in this project where he listed what he would like to "see" and one of the things was "my mom to clean the house". Nice - Thanks Patrick.
Here is Patrick with his "Boom-Whacker" in music class. That's actually what they're called. They are different length tubes that make different notes on the scale when you hit them on your hand. I got to listen to them play "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" on them. I'm not sure whose idea it was to give a bunch of little kids things that could easily be mistaken for weapons:) Craziness.
The top picture here is as close as I could get to a "good" class picture...the rest of them basically look like the one below.
Their teacher said that this years' class of 12 kids is louder than the class she had last year and there were 26 kids in it! I think it's because they are such a small class and they have been so close. They all like each other and want to talk to each other all of the time!
I also took Benjamin in for his Kindergarten screening yesterday afternoon. He passed with flying colors of course and had a blast taking all of the "tests". He only missed two points on the entire test. He missed being able to identify the letter "T" and he couldn't count to 30.....he only made it to 29! He is SO excited to go to school. He'd go tomorrow if I'd let him. I'm afraid the poor boy is going to have a long summer.
