Busy Day!

We spent our entire day running around yesterday. The kids were exhausted by the time we got home...especially poor little Emma. We left home at 10:30 and I got my hair cut at 11:15. Totally new do - first time it's ever been quite this short. I get crazy every couple of years and cut off my hair - but this time I LOVE it! I'll probably keep it like this for a while. I'm going to try and not revert to the ponytail that I've had forever. It feels weird though....out of habit I keep trying to flip my hair, and there's nothing to flip!
Then after that we ran to the mall and I got pretzel bites for Benny, Grace, Emma and I to share. They love those darn things! Then we got cookies from Mrs. Field's for dessert. Not exactly a very "healthy" lunch but hey we don't get out much these days. Benjamin got a chocolate chip cookie with an icing pirate skull on it and Grace had one with a pink princess crown. Yum.

Then we had to drive all the way back and pick up Patrick from school early at 1:45 so we could be at the dentist by 2:30. We all had checkups and cleanings - I think I must have lost my mind momentarily when I made those appointments! Craziness. Actually it went very well, everyone pretty much behaved and Emma only fussed a little bit. A little entertainment from one of the gals in the office and she was fine. It was Grace's very first trip to the dentist. She jumped up on the chair and sat there like she'd done it a hundred times before. Not scared in the least. She had a perfect checkup! No cavities - YAY! The boys' didn't go quite so well. Benjamin has a small cavity in one of his back molars that will be filled next week and Patrick got quite a scolding from Carol the hygienist for having "fuzzy" teeth. She told him if he came in again with teeth like that she'd give him a toothbrush and make him go brush them before she'd look at them. No cavities though - just needs to brush his bottom teeth better. He also has a cross bite that they will keep an eye on. They said they will probably fit him with some sort of "appliance" when we go back in 6 months to stretch his upper teeth out a bit. They couldn't do it right now because he is missing too many teeth! I will be going back to the dentist with Benjamin next week to get my very first filling. I have a teeny-weensy little spot on one of my teeth that needs a filling. Not even a cavity - just a little tiny spot that would eventually turn into a cavity if they don't put a tiny little filling in it. Said they wouldn't even have to numb anything to do it and it would probably only take about 10 minutes. Still it's depressing - 32 years and I've never had a filling...until next week.

Here's Patrick getting his teeth checked out! I'd better make sure he starts brushing better before we go back in the fall.

Here's little Miss Gracie with Jackie the Hygienist. She had a great time at the dentist's office!
I don't have a picture of Benjamin at the dentist - he got his teeth cleaned the same time I did.
After our adventure at the dentist we had to stop by the Walmart to pick up a couple of things and to get some gas. I think Patrick asked to buy everything they had on the shelves.
We had a very busy day. For the most part it was a good day though. The kids were well behaved (most of the time). We were exhausted by the time we got home at 4:30! Emma got a tiny little nap and then we went over to Daddy & Diana's for pizza for supper. I was glad I didn't have to think about dinner last night - my brain was fried. I was in bed by 10:00 last night and asleep by 11:00. That never happens - I'm never asleep before midnight - ever! I was totally exhausted.

  1. Love the hair!! It looks great!! I do that every once in awhile too! That is the beauty of hair. If you don't like it you can always grow it out again.
