We had our first Christmas this past weekend. We spent the whole weekend at Dad & Diana's house! We had an awesome time!! It was so much fun to be there with everyone and not have to drive back and forth from home. In all there were 7 adults, 5 kids, and 2 dogs all in one house. It was crazy at times - and never quiet - but it was a ton of fun! We ended up going over and spending the night on Friday and the kids stayed up until after midnight - which was crazy but they were all in a good mood. After they finally went to bed Diana, Daddy & I stayed up and did a little present wrapping and finally hit the sack around 3 am. Too bad none of the kids know the meaning of "sleeping in". We were up at 8:00 or so on Saturday and Reid & Mekeli fried up about 2 pigs worth of bacon for breakfast :) Saturday evening we had our Christmas feast. We decided to change things up a bit and instead of turkey Diana roasted a goose. I'm thinking we'll probably have turkey next year though - there wasn't a whole lot of meat on the goose and not many people liked the taste of it. But I thought it was pretty good - although I do think I prefer turkey. We had tons of food as usual and I don't think anyone went hungry! After dinner we all piled into two vehicles and went to see the Festival of Lights but since it was freezing rain and the roads were crazy slick we turned around after about 15 minutes of driving and came back home. The kids were so glad!! It meant it was time to open presents!!! What a blast! It was so much fun to see the look on the kids' faces as they unwrapped their treasures. After gifts we watched G.I. Joe....at least SOME of us did...everyone fell asleep on me - what a bunch of wimps! :o) We finally turned it off and went to bed. Too bad I didn't even get to see the end of it since it was Reid's movie and he took it home! Sunday morning we had some french toast for breakfast and then I took the kids to Sunday school so they could practice for their program this coming weekend. When we came back we made some Christmas cookies and by afternoon it was time for everyone to head home :( I wish we all lived closer but I guess it just makes the time that we do get to see each other that much more special. I really missed Jamie, Lisa & Ayla but hopefully we'll see them soon. It was a great weekend!
Reid was helping all the kids - such a good uncle!
