Good Old Days

July 17, 2010
Good Old Days

Every year we try to go to the "Good Old Days" celebration.  It is held in my best friend Emily's hometown.  This year Emily's dad passed away after suffering from Parkinson's Disease for many years, her cousin organized a 5K run in his honor with all the proceeds going toward Parkinson's research.  I got up early and walked the 5K with Emily - next year though, I'm planning on running it!  We also went to the parade where the kids picked up tons of candy - just what they needed.  That evening we went up to the park for the fireworks.  Their fireworks are by far the best around!  Every year I'm afraid this will be the year that they aren't very good - after I've told everyone how awesome they are... but I have yet to be disappointed!  They start off a little slow, one at a time, but then all the sudden they just go crazy and by the time the finale gets here it looks like they just set everything they had off at once!  I love it!
Emily and I at the start of the 5K.
So glad we don't have a picture of "after"...
we were pretty sweaty!
Emily brought her dog, Buttons up for the day and the kids
got to meet her for the first time!
They all wanted a turn walking her.
They ask about her all the time now :)
If you want to know what Buttons is up to

Patrick the squirrel.  He had slap-bracelets on his ears.
Such a strange child...must be why I like him so much :o)

I was trying to get a picture of the finale, but all you can see is white!
The whole sky was lit up!
