Maypole Dance & Grandparent's Day

May 4, 2010
I love that where we live we have such a great little school! And I do mean little - Patrick has 12 kids in his class and Benny has 16. Due to the small size of our school they are able to do a lot of really cool stuff. One of my favorite things of the year is always the Maypole celebration. The kids do little dances around the maypole in the gym and as they get older they get closer to the coveted roles of "weavers". The fourth graders weave ribbons down the maypole and it is just so pretty when they do it!
After the kids were all done at the evening performance they had all of the adults that had danced the Maypole at the school as kids come up and weave the ribbons! It was so funny and they did pretty good for not having any practice!

The fourth grade weaving the ribbons on the Maypole. The kindergartners don't have much of a "dance". They skip around the pole and put flowers on it. But, of course they were all adorable! Benny sitting with his class.Patrick & the 3rd grade with some 4th graders to fill in because there just wasn't enough of them. The third grade is the first year they get to do anything with the ribbons. Patrick & Blaine The spectators for the evening performance.

In the afternoon it was also "Grandparent's Day". I'll add a picture of that when I get it scanned.
