3rd Grade Field Trip

After their field trip had been planned, cancelled and rescheduled and cancelled again due to the VERY wet weather last fall, Patrick's third grade class got to finally go this spring!!! There were some very happy kids and I was very excited to be able to chaperone the trip this year - we all had a really good time!
It started out a little rocky when they forgot to send a bus to take the kids on their trip...
But all that was forgotten when they got to see all the animals at Wildlife Prairie State Park!!
The group above is my little group of hoodlums - they were really well behaved... most of the time ;)
The Third Grade in front of the old homestead.
Chickens!
At least they were much better behaved than the cougars we saw earlier. Yeah, they were feeling mighty friendly that's for sure. Had a bunch of questions about "Why was the one climbing on top of the other one? Why are they making those noises? Are they hurting each other?" Good grief - I was SO not ready for that! All I could come up with on the spur of the moment was "Those silly cougars! Look at them wrestling - they must be showing off for all you kids!" I think most of them got it...except for the one girl from the other school we went with who announced, "They aren't wrestling...they are humping!" Great...and we're moving right along... let's go see some bears!
Don't ask - I have no idea. Really, I swear he's not my child....don't even know him. Send help. I wonder if he realizes where he actually lives?
